Hi, I’m Riena! I am dedicated to fostering respectful, solution-oriented approaches to family law, while always keeping your goals and needs at the forefront of my work. Whether you’re going through a difficult divorce or custody matter or celebrating your relationship with a prenuptial/postnuptial agreement, I will strive to empower you through education, understanding, and compassionate representation.

As your attorney or mediator, I’ll work closely with you at the onset to understand your goals, fears, communication styles, and relationship dynamics. I'm committed to client-centered representation, so while I'm here to provide strong legal advice, I'll also workshop strategies and case plans with you to give you agency over your case. We’ll also discuss how to tailor my work to fit into your budget. Attorney work can get expensive and that’s really scary! Together, we’ll develop an approach that best supports you and makes you feel comfortable and safe. If you’re searching for a more holistic and transformational process, I also provide legal consultation in conjunction with in-house coaching services through our Soul Compass Divorce Program.

I have training in mediation and collaborative divorce because I resolutely believe in the power of peaceful and amicable conflict resolution when appropriate. I also have training in domestic violence counseling, which informs the way I support clients who have experienced abuse or other traumas. Additionally, my earlier experience representing parents in the child welfare system and doing policy work for Planned Parenthood taught me the importance of having the right resources and support systems in place during challenging transitions.

I’m committed to giving back to my community and growing as an attorney and mediator. I currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Women Lawyers of the San Mateo County Bar Association and the Collaborative Practice Group, Golden Gate. I am an active member of the Collaborative Practice Group’s DEI Committee and Divorce Options Committee, dedicated to developing trainings that educate the community about how to navigate the divorce process. In addition, I volunteer as a mediator for the Palo Alto Mediation Program.

At the heart of my practice is a simple belief. Family law attorneys should help you move forward and start a new chapter of life in a positive way.
